Our Nationwide Camp Details

This summer, we are offering a virtual cost-free summer coding camp for students in 3rd-8th grade in which qualified high school volunteers will be teaching computer science to students. The summer camp will start on July 30 and end on August 2nd, with synchronous instruction from 9 am - 3 pm CST every day. The camp will be held virtually on Zoom and be offered completely for free to all our students!

We will be offering eight courses with our carefully developed curriculum that has taught over 12,000+ students worldwide, with each course culminating in a unique final project for the student to apply their newly learned skills to! We take priority in combining our curriculum with enjoyable bonding activities to create rewarding experiences for our campers.

Our eight courses offered are:

• Intro to Java

• Web Development

• Intermediate Python

• Intermediate Java

• Project-Baed Python

• Project-Based Java

• Project-Based Web Development

Volunteering Details

Steel City Codes is run by volunteers, and as such, our camp will be as well! If you are a qualified high schooler with experience in any of the above eight courses, feel free to apply below to be a volunteer for the SCC Nationwide Camp. Becoming a volunteer allows you to:

• Make a positive impact on younger students and be a leading inspiration to them

• Develop communication and leadership skills by teaching your own virtual classroom of students

• Obtain volunteer hours for your hard work which can be used for YES, PVSA, and other prestigious awards

Volunteers will be provided with training and curriculum beforehand to be used as teaching material - however, they will still be vetted and interviewed to ensure they have the necessary communication and technical skills to be a SCC volunteer. Learn more about volunteering with SCC here!
